On a deep blue floor, a woman and a man perform the gestures of romantic relationships to the point of total exhaustion: a contemporary pas de deux, steeped in the violence of gendered norms. Is it a celebration of love or the suffering it brings? The pas de deux carries its historical weight, embodying the quintessential structure where the normative imagery of heterosexuality unfolds. Here, the dancers are confined together. Their bodies, compelled to interact—holding hands, supporting one another in a pose, lifting—are drawn into a spiral of oppression. Through the exhaustion of their movements, how can these bodies resist and break free from this imposed choreography?
